New Wellbeing Volunteers

Training - WellbeingOur third set of Wellbeing volunteers underwent their role training on 11th July, thanks to NHS staff Lynn (POAS team) and Silvia (Occupational Therapist). Lynn discussed communication, the person-centred approach plus dementia, delirium and depression. While Silvia talked through the activities in the Wellbeing volunteer resource box (cards, colouring books, jigsaws, local history books) and demonstrated simple craft activities.

Dorothy (third from the left) is already one of our Observation volunteers and kindly agreed to take on this additional role. She was keen to start on ward 3 at North Tyneside General Hospital on 17th July just in time for the 50’s music event! Not sure if she is an Elvis or Cliff fan, we will find out soon as she has promised to write a blog of her first day as Wellbeing volunteer.

Second from the right is Louiza our first Wellbeing volunteer for Wansbeck General Hospital. Louiza lives in Ashington and already volunteers for the Stroke Association and our partner organisation Age UK Northumberland.
