Hospital Volunteer Hunt

Hospital to Home Volunteer Coordinator Louiza Caulfield started on the 1st October and the search began for 10 Hospital Mealtime Volunteers for North Tyneside General Hospital.  Enquires from existing and new volunteers have started to roll in and interviews are well underway. Many thanks to the Age UK North Tyneside staff who have helped, with special thanks to Debbie and Gary.

Mid October saw an unexpected volunteer role emerge for the project, Hospital Wellbeing Volunteer.  After acting in an advisory capacity to Northumberland Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust to improve patient experience on a local steering group, we have been asked to take on the recruitment and management of the Wellbeing Volunteers. These volunteers will provide much needed social interaction to patients on wards who feel isolated, bored and lonely.

Louiza is taking over our blog  – so watch this space for her updates and improvements
